Software codecs can only do so much. If you have a relatively piss-poor spec PC and not enough processor gumption to provide enough cycles for decoding 720p/1080p video, then you’re going to need to offload the encoding to something a little more capable.

A notable mention for .mov files, endorsed by Quicktime, Apple’s over-geared consummate pile of bloat with such an ironic flucking name it makes me twitch with jibbles of laughter – renaming them to .hdmov will indicate to MPC-HC that you want them rendered in hardware, without use of the quicktime framework (if it is indeed installed).
