So I was looking for an open source flex component that would give me a sort of rotating 3D wheel effect. After anagramming all the keyword combinations I could fathom, and furrowing through component catalogues like a frantic whippet, I learned that Flex/Flash components are often named with a different mental model in mind.

And if they’re ‘official’ 3rd party components you can expect to pay a modest $50 to receive a bundle of (often useless) garb, along with the functionality you actually wanted.

Well, it took me a frickin’ ice age to find a decent free example, so here’s posting up for anyone who isn’t down with the nomenclature verbiage.
